2nd International Conference on the Social Context of Science

Call for Abstracts

We invite submissions of abstracts for presentations within the conference tracks. Abstracts should be no more than 3500 Characters (with spaces) and clearly articulate the research question(s)/hypothesis, methodology, key findings, and implications of the work. All accepted abstracts will be published in a Book of Abstracts that will be published online on the conference website in Open Access form.

  • Ethics (research ethics, ethics of new technologies)

  • Sociology of science
  • Engineering and technology management
  • Enringeering and technology assessment
  • Environmental studies
  • Public policy
  • Communication studies
  • and related topics are welcome

Submission Guidelines

  • Abstracts should be submitted electronically through the Abstract Submission Form.
  • Abstracts should adhere to the conference theme and fall within one of the conference tracks.
  • Abstracts can be based on research that has been published, is under review, or is a work in progress.
  • We encourge researchers from Science, Engineering and Technology, to present the social implications of their reserach.

Important Dates

  • Abstract submission deadline: 15 March 2025 31 March 2025
  • Notification of acceptance: no later than 25 March 2025 2 April 2025
  • Early-bird registration deadline: 31 March 2025
  • Registration deadline: 15 April 2025
  • Deadline for Submission of presentation in PDF format: 7 May 2025
  • Conference Dates: 12-13 May 2025
  • Erasmus+ ISTW: 12-16 May 2025

Note: the presentations submitted in PDF will be available on the system at the conference venue, along with a presenter. All presenters shall use the same system, in order to avoid glitches and delays.


Presentation Format

Accepted abstracts will be presented in dedicated sessions within the respective tracks as oral presentations (10 minutes + 5 minutes of Q&A).
